What to Expect?

Why Take Part in the Divemaster Course Nusa Penida?

Becoming a Divemaster doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to / have to work in the scuba diving industry. Many people who enroll in the Divemaster Course Nusa Penida do so merely to improve their skills. In saying that, our Divemaster programs will provide a skills boost as we teach you how to handle different scenarios.

The scenarios that you face will either be real-life or enacted by your mentor and fellow dive buddies. We ensure that you have adequate training in order to handle any situation that you may face. Therefore, by learning and practicing these skills, you will be ready to handle any real-life emergencies that may occur.

Over and above your skills training, you will have the opportunity to assist on PADI Courses and guide guests underwater. For the duration of your Divemaster course, you will work closely with your instructor to master these tools. Additionally, they will impart valuable knowledge to you which will ultimately make you the best that you can be. Not everything can be learned in a textbook, in some cases, practical experience is the best education.

Divemaster interns immediately become valuable members of the team at Legend Diving Penida. Since you will train and dive with us for a few weeks, we do not consider you as a “regular customer”. On that note, we will give you certain responsibilities to help the permanent staff run a smooth diving operation. In doing so, it will provide great, firsthand experience if you do choose to work as a Divemaster. This experience includes, but is not limited to, trip preparations, equipment maintenance, dive site planning, and more.

The Divemaster Course Nusa Penida is a lot of fun. Arriving in a foreign country with the opportunity to meet and work with people from around the world is amazing. Consequently, you will form close relationships with your Divemaster mentor, Diemaster classmates, and the other dive center staff. In addition, we usually have a few Divemaster candidates at once, which makes the experience even more memorable. Friendships the last a lifetime will be made whilst at the dive center, on the boat, or at the bar. Most of our candidates never want to leave. In fact, many of them stay and continue their dive training.

The Divemaster Course Nusa Penida will involve enough diving to satisfy your scuba soul for a good period of time. Upon enrolling with us, you will receive unlimited fun diving for the duration of your course. The option to dive before your course starts is available in some of our Divemaster packages. Additionally, you are also able to add more fun dives once you are certified. Please see our different package options, below.

The Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area is truly any scuba divers’ fantasy come to life. The marine life is abundant with colorful coral reefs as far as the eye can see. With almost daily sightings of the majestic Manta Rays, as well as the occasional Mola spot, what’s not to love? Let us not forget the wide variety of other reef fish, sea turtles, macro marine life, and much more.

The Divemaster Course Nusa Penida will provide you with the tools needed to work in most places around the world. Because of the wide-ranging oceanic conditions, you will feel prepared to handle any situation that is thrown your way. Strong currents and colder water (seasonal) are just 2 of the varying aspects you will learn to master. Legend Diving Penida has a great reputation amongst the community for being a professional and well-run diving operation. On that note, becoming a Divemaster here will help you find a job easier.

Divemaster internships fulfill specific university internship requirements. If this is something you are interested in, then check if your school will allow for it. We would be more than happy to liase with them and help you qualify. Working as a Divemaster is truly a superb job to have. However, if you are doing the internship for yourself and not to work in the diving world, that’s good, too. In fact, it’s known that Divemasters can work in high-pressure situations, which apply to many working environments.

As a whole, the worldwide scuba diving community is known to be ambassadors for the ocean. Our passion is to spend as much time as possible underwater, discovering life below and enjoying the sensations it provides. Upon becoming a Divemaster, your role as an ocean ambassador becomes a little more noticed by those around you. People will look to you for guidance and ways in which they can help save our oceans. The opportunity to impart knowledge of ocean conservation to others is an important and prestigious responsibility to have. Legend Diving Penida is proud to be a Green Fins dive center. In order to achieve this status, dive centers need to meet strict environmental practices and standards. We will expect Divemaster candidates to follow these standards, and help others that aren’t aware, follow them, too.

In addition to a wide range of dive specialties, we provide several conservation courses that can enrich your divemaster training. These courses include Coral Restoration, Reef Monitoring, Marine Megafauna Identification, and many other exciting options. If you’re looking to expand your conservation knowledge even further, we suggest exploring our Conservation internship program. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how we can actively contribute to ocean preservation and coral restoration.

Divemaster Course Nusa Penida Structure

During your Divemaster course Nusa Penida, you’ll have access to top-notch facilities, including air-conditioned classrooms, a spacious in-house swimming pool, and a bar/relaxation area.

With the guidance of your instructors, you’ll benefit from continuous feedback and support. Feel free to ask plenty of questions, particularly about topics that spark your interest. Our aim is to ensure you complete the Divemaster course Nusa Penida with enhanced skills, including fish identification and a solid understanding of currents.

3 main parts of your Divemaster Program

On enrolment, you will receive a PADI Divemaster manual that comprises 9 separate theory sections. Each section contains a knowledge review that needs to be completed, and thereafter your mentor will review them with you. In addition to the textbook work, there will also be various multimedia presentations as well as classroom exercises. Notably, we will cover extra topics that aren’t in the PADI syllabus, however, are great additions to your training.

The majority of your time spent on water skills development will be in the pool with your Divemaster mentor. First, we will assess your swim level with a few exercises. Next, you will learn, practice, and eventually, master the PADI 24 skills circuit. We will conduct certain portions of the water skill development in open water. For example, we will practice the rescue scenarios in lifelike situations. In that case, be sure to brush up on your Rescue diver skill set.

Here, you will have the chance to put the theory and skills you have learned into practice. Before completing your training you will need to assist with PADI courses, conduct divemaster-authorized programs, and manage dive activities. This truly is a fun part of your course as you get hands-on experience with students and other guests.

We take pride in maintaining a clean and organized dive center, as it builds trust and confidence in our guests. Our commitment to exceptional customer service extends to setting up equipment and accommodating special requests.

As a Divemaster candidate, you’ll adopt these practices, enhancing your professionalism and ensuring success wherever your diving journey takes you. At Legend, we offer a Divemaster course that exceeds PADI standards, emphasizing skill and dedication over mere payment to earn your certification.

A Little Head Start!

Typical Day During Your Divemaster Course Nusa Penida

The daily schedule of a Divemaster candidate at Legend Diving Penida will vary based on a number of factors. So it would be impossible to provide an accurate account of each day as there are different variables affecting daily plans.

However, we do try and plan the schedule so that all Divemaster candidates can complete specific tasks, together. Below is an average day for a Divemaster candidate at Legend Diving:

Let’s start the day!

07:00 AM

All staff and Divemaster candidates must arrive at the dive center at least 1 hour before the other guests. Here, we will check the equipment for each guest going on the boat to make sure it’s correct. After, we will prepare the boat with tanks, food, oxygen, etc. This is also the time where your mentor will brief you on your specific tasks for the day.

08:00 AM

All guests will arrive at the Dive center. We will welcome them, offer tea/coffee/water, and assist them with wetsuit sizing. Divemaster candidates will also brief guests on the daily plan, depending on where you are with your training.

09:00 AM

We will board 1 of 2 Legend Diving fast boats and head out to the dive sites of the day. We will use Manta Point as an example, as it is the farthest of them all. Don’t worry, it’s not too far. Use this time to prepare yourself and socialize with the other divers on board.

09:30 AM

Arrival at Manta Point. Gear up, and back roll into the water. Meet the Manta rays and enjoy the show they put on for us.

10:45 AM

Dive 1 complete. We will usually have a 1-hour surface interval before the second dive. Time for some fruit, lunch, and tea/coffee/water. We require Divemaster candidates to assist the staff with serving food and gear changing.

12:00 PM

Crystal Bay is usually our second dive after Manta Point. After a quick 20-minute boat ride, it is time for dive 2 with some Mola spotting.

13:00 PM

Dive 2 complete. Time to head back to the dive center.

Welcome Back to Nusa Penida Island!

13:30 PM

Once we have tied the boat up, you will assist the staff with unloading the boat. We will take the equipment back to the dive center for washing. Thereafter, you can help the guests complete their logbooks.

14:00 PM

Once the guests have gone home and everything has been washed and hung up to dry, it’s break time. There is a chance that you will have other Divemaster activities later that afternoon, so make sure to check the schedule. In the case that you don’t have anything going on, then go and explore the Island with your buddies.
